Cookie Policy
This policy explains what cookies are, which ones this website uses, and how you can manage your preferences.
Last updated: 1 May 2025
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — for example, whether you have already acknowledged a notice — so it does not have to ask again on your next visit.
Similar technologies, such as localStorage, work in a comparable way but store information in your browser rather than as a separate file. This policy covers both cookies and localStorage where applicable.
2. How We Use Cookies
This website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not share cookie data with third parties for commercial purposes.
The table below lists each cookie or storage item used, its purpose, and how long it persists.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| gh_cookie_accepted | localStorage | Records that you have acknowledged the cookie notice, so it does not appear again on subsequent visits. | Persistent (until browser data is cleared) |
| _ga | Cookie (third-party) | Set by Google Analytics if present. Distinguishes visitors for aggregate usage reporting. We review whether analytics are active from time to time; if they are not currently enabled, this cookie will not be set. | 2 years |
| Google Maps | Third-party cookies | When the embedded map on our contact page loads, Google may set its own cookies. These are governed by Google's own policies, which we have no control over. | Varies (set by Google) |
3. Strictly Necessary Cookies
The gh_cookie_accepted item is considered strictly necessary for the proper operation of the cookie notice. It requires no consent to set, as it only records your own choice and does not track your browsing or identify you.
4. Third-Party Cookies
The Google Maps embed on our homepage and contact section is served directly from Google's servers. When it loads, Google may set cookies in accordance with its own privacy and cookie policies. We encourage you to review those policies on Google's website if you have concerns about how Google handles data.
We do not use social media plugins, advertising networks, or remarketing pixels on this website.
5. Managing Your Preferences
Most browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. The steps vary by browser; a search for "manage cookies" alongside your browser name will lead you to the relevant instructions.
Clearing your browser's storage will remove the gh_cookie_accepted entry, and the cookie notice will appear again on your next visit. That is entirely normal behaviour.
Blocking all cookies may affect the behaviour of third-party embeds such as the Google Maps section, but will not prevent you from reading the content of this website or using the contact form.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy if we change how the website uses cookies. The date shown at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
