How Gearhaus came to be
Gearhaus began as a single bench in a small room off Sathorn Tai Road, set up by Wiroj Thanasakdi after fifteen years working in servicing roles at Swiss brand service centres across Southeast Asia. The idea was simple: bring the standard of work usually reserved for brand-authorised centres to owners whose watches fall outside those networks — vintage pieces, independent brands, and everyday wearers that deserve proper attention regardless of name on the dial.
The name Gearhaus reflects a deliberately plain ambition. Haus — a workshop — and gear — the interlocking wheels at the heart of every mechanical movement. No flourish, no pretension. A place where competent people do careful work.
Today the workshop operates three well-defined services. Each service has a fixed scope, a stated price in Thai Baht, and a realistic turnaround time. Owners know what they are paying for before any work begins, and the documentation produced — particularly for heirloom rebuilds — is intended to accompany the watch for the rest of its useful life.

What we are here to do
Our purpose is straightforward: prolong the working life of mechanical watches through service work that is appropriately scoped, well-executed, and fully documented. We do not upsell work that is not needed, and we do not skip steps to meet an unrealistic deadline.
Bangkok's watch-owning community ranges from long-term collectors to people who have just inherited a grandfather's dress watch and want to understand its condition. Both deserve the same quality of attention and the same clarity of communication. We try to offer that to everyone who brings a piece to the workshop.

Fifteen years at authorised service centres across the region. Handles movement servicing and all heirloom documentation personally.

Watchmaker — Sealing & Testing
Specialises in case work and pressure testing. Trained in Switzerland and has managed water-resistance protocols for diver watch collections.

Workshop Coordinator
Manages intake, progress updates, and client communications. Ensures turnaround estimates are kept, and owners hear from us promptly if anything changes.
Standards
How the workshop operates
Certified pressure testing equipment
All water-resistance work is verified with a calibrated dry pressure tester. Results are recorded and provided in writing.
Timing machine verification
Every service concludes with a timing machine read. The result is noted in the inspection record so you have a baseline for future reference.
Photographic record on heirloom work
Heirloom rebuilds are photographed at each stage. The complete set of images goes into the presentation folder with the watch.
Prior approval for scope changes
If inspection reveals work beyond the agreed scope, we contact the owner before proceeding. Nothing additional is done without a clear go-ahead.
Secure watch storage
Watches in our care are stored in a locked cabinet when not on the bench. Each piece is logged by serial number and owner on intake.
Client information handled with discretion
Contact details and watch records are kept only as long as needed for the service. We do not share client information with third parties.
Our Approach
Watch repair as a craft, not a volume operation
A mechanical watch is not a disposable object. Whether it is a diver worn every day for decades, a dress watch brought out for occasions, or a pocket watch that has sat in a drawer since a grandparent's passing, the movement inside it deserves the same structured approach to repair: assess carefully, agree on scope, carry out the work systematically, verify the result, and document what was done.
Bangkok has no shortage of places that will replace a battery or polish a case. Gearhaus exists for owners who need something more considered — a tune-up that actually addresses the movement's lubrication points, a seal replacement that ends with a documented pressure test, or a full rebuild that produces a lasting record of the watch's condition and history.
Our three services are designed to cover the most common situations owners encounter. The pricing is stated clearly because we believe transparency about cost is as important as transparency about process. If a watch needs something that falls outside those three services, we will say so at intake, and point you in a direction that makes sense.
